Davenergy Solutions is seeking a full-time Construction Manager to join our team supporting projects at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center in Bay Pines, Florida.


This program includes new construction and phased renovation work on an active VA medical campus, including historic buildings. The work consists of a multi-million-dollar renovation of the main hospital building and related infrastructure improvements, with projects occurring in various stages including planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout. This position serves as the Owner’s Representative supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs during construction activities. Some of the duties of the successful candidate include:

  • Perform routine field inspections to verify construction complies with contract documents, approved submittals, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Observe contractor and subcontractor work and report issues related to workmanship, materials, safety, or code compliance. Assist in developing punch lists and tracking corrective actions through completion.
  • Help maintain and review marked-up drawings and documentation to support review of as-built records.
  • Prepare daily reports documenting construction progress, manpower, work activities, and site conditions.
  • Maintain organized project files including inspection reports, correspondence, photographs, and deficiency logs.
  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, testing reports, and inspection documentation.
  • Assist with preparation or review of change orders, cost proposals, and contract modifications.
  • Review portions of contractor payment applications and provide recommendations to the SRE.
  • Support contract close-out activities and final inspections.
  • Attend weekly project meetings and coordinate with project stakeholders including contractors, engineers, and VA staff.
  • Assist with coordination of special inspections, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Assist with planning and documentation of utility outages, traffic interruptions, and other construction impacts on the medical campus.
  • Assist site Safety Manager with daily observations ensuring work activities align with OSHA, EM-385-1-1, and project safety requirements. 
  • Document field conditions and events that may impact schedule, cost, or quality and communicate those observations to the SRE. Provide field input to the project scheduler.
Requirements

Relevant Experience and Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of construction experience, preferably in healthcare or federal construction projects with at least two of the five years in quality assurance, quality control, or Owner’s Representative roles. 
  • Familiarity of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and construction contract administration is helpful.
  • Understanding of multi-disciplinary building systems including HVAC, plumbing, civil, structural, electrical, and architectural work. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution.


Physical Requirements: 

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use 

of construction personnel hoist, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. While performing 

the duties of this position, the associate regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the associate is 

exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions 

and risk of electrical shock. Occasional lifting of equipment between 10-25 lbs. required.
