WSP’s Engineered Construction team is growing, and we have opportunities for Entry Level Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technicians in Phoenix, AZ to perform field testing for commercial, industrial, and transportation related construction projects. This position is ideal for individuals beginning their career in construction materials testing and field inspection, with opportunities for training, certification, and professional growth.
Your Impact
- Perform construction materials sampling and testing
- Perform sampling and testing of concrete in accordance with ASTM and project specifications and ACI Concrete Standards.
- Prepare and submit accurate written field reports documenting daily activities, observations, and test results
- Test and work in accordance with Company safety policies
- Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
- Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites
- Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- 0–2 years of construction materials testing or related field experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Good driving History
- Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times
- Ability to prepare reports and documentation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of Excel
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
- Must pass physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Preferred Qualifications
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I certification or ATTI Field Technician, or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
- Basic familiarity with construction materials testing, including concrete sampling, density testing, and field inspections
- Exposure to construction sites, fieldwork, or hands‑on technical environments (internships, labs, or entry‑level experience)
- Willingness to learn, accept direction from senior technicians, and work as part of a field team
Physical Demands
- Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work
- Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds
- Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles
- Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
