Who We Are  

Messiah Lifeways is a non-profit organization located in Mechanicsburg, PA, that provides a network of services for adults, 55 and better living in South Central PA. Our roots trace back to 1896, when the Brethren in Christ Church founded Messiah Home in Harrisburg, PA, to serve older adults with Christ-like love.  

Who You Are  

The dishwasher is charged with ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of all dishware, cookware, and kitchen equipment, either by hand or using a commercial dishwashing machine. This role is also tasked with supporting  overall kitchen hygiene by assisting with cleaning pots and pans, removing trash to designated disposal areas, sweeping and mopping floors, and sanitizing work surfaces. The Dishwasher plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. The Dishwasher will have a schedule of 4:00PM - 7:00PM and held to an every other weekend, and holiday rotation. 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have knowledge of/experience in the following:

• Organized and detail oriented – strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently 

• Customer Service Oriented- maintains a friendly, respectful, and service- oriented attitude  

• Team Collaboration- works cooperatively with supervisors and team members to support daily operations  

What You’ll Do  

• Cleans and sanitizes dishware by hand or using a commercial dishwashing machine, ensuring compliance with hygiene standards. 

• Maintains cleanliness of kitchen surfaces, including worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks. 

• Performs routine floor care such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and general cleaning to uphold a safe and sanitary environment. 

• Disposes of trash and waste properly by transporting it to designated disposal areas in a timely and safe manner. 

• Transfers supplies and equipment between storage areas and workstations (e.g., pantry, dish room) to support kitchen operations. 

• Cleans and sanitizes kitchen equipment using appropriate chemicals and procedures in accordance with health and safety regulations. 

Potential career growth track: Dietary Aide, Cashier, Dining Supervisor, Cook 1 

What Else You’ll Need  

• Dishwasher experience (preferred but not required) 

• At least 16 years of age
