Overview

The Salvation Army’s Divisional Headquarters is hiring an EDS Training & Administrative Coordinator and offers the following benefit package to part-time employees:

Hours/week: 20 hours per week

Exemption: Non-exempt

Pay Range: $21.50 - $23.00 per hour

*starting pay varies depending on experience and qualifications*

 

The principal function of the EDS Training & Administrative Coordinator is to provide foundational support to core areas of the MA EDS program including volunteerism, training, admin, and event/response assistance. This position works directly with the Director and Deputy Director.

This job description is not all inclusive.  It is intended to identify the essential duties of the position.  Other duties, responsibilities and tasks may be assigned.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

EDS Volunteer Support

  • Seek to recruit new volunteers by identifying potential groups, sharing basic EDS volunteer information, and helping plan for initial 'EDS 101' presentations whether virtual or in person. 
  • Provide on-boarding for new volunteers with information 'package' and communication
  • Support volunteer coordination at larger EDS events (i.e. Boston Marathon, extended responses, Castle, Back to School)
  • Utilize National EDS Volunteer Database  

 

Finance/Admin Liaison

  • Review timesheets for EDS and submit to payroll in a timely manner
  • Compile EDS statistics and send bi-annual report to EDS Director
  • Track expenses/data on active open projects (ex CITGO grant)
  • Take on finance and administration IMAT role during larger disasters in MA 

 

Public Relations/Communications Support

  • Provide tactical information/updates to DHQ EDS and Public Relations Director
  • Post to approved sites (ex. EDS Facebook, MA EDS text group) 
  • Gather data from Corps Facebook sites during responses to share, repost, compile
  • Request current information from field on active preparedness/operations (ex. Open Warming Centers) 

 

Divisional EDS Training & Support 

  • Provide information to field about upcoming trainings, provide follow up certs/materials, track/communicate with registrants  
  • Complete core Sal Army EDS courses (Intro, Sal Army ICS, Canteen Ops, Essentials, ServSafe FH, Keep SAfe)  
  • Support and/or co- teach foundation level courses when requested: ex. Intro to EDS, ServSafe Food Handler, CPR/First Aid courses, KeepSAfe   

Support Divisional EDS Responses/ Events 

  • Provide response support to active EDS needs including helping deployed teams on site, providing supply drops, reaching out to additional vols if needed 
  • Helping support Resource Recovery Centers or other response/distribution events  

 

Logistics Support  

  • Pickup/deliver small donations (ex. Dignity Matters, canned goods from local companies, diapers, etc) 
  • Deliver needed supplies to EDS Corps (blankets, hygiene products, food, etc) 
  • Help with basic logistics, inventory, restocking at small EDS supply caches

 

Emergency Alert Support

  • When requested, receive/ manage alerts of disasters in MA (including overnights) ; and share with DHQ EDS leadership at determined threshold  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education Requirements:

Bachelor Degree preferred, or equivalent professional work experience in one or more areas required for this position

 

Work Experience:

2-3 years work experience in at least 2 of the key duties and responsibilities for this position. 

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work on an “on-call” basis as nature of ministry is emergency based, includes nights and weekends
  • Must have and obtain valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to work longer hours when a larger response is needed
  • Self-starter and Independent; must work well with or without supervision
  • Become Certified as an Emergency Disaster Services TSA responder within 6 months of employment
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Must have great planning, organizational and management skills
  • Must be able to effectively deal with public relations and possess good presentation skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive disaster vehicle safely at any time
  • Must have basic computer skills with Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to travel on disaster assignments within and outside of MA when needed.

g) Ability to travel throughout the Division via car, train, or airplane.

h) Ability to be creative, original, intuitive, and perceptive.

i) Ability to think logically and critically.

j) Ability to envision a project from beginning to end.

k) Ability to solve complex problems, make appropriate judgments and decisions
