GENERAL SUMMARY:            

Under general supervision, perform master journey-level work in the repair, maintenance, service, modification, troubleshooting, inspection and monitoring of the operation of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and associated plumbing, electrical, mechanical, BAS (Building Automated System) and controls systems.  Demonstrate behaviors supporting Sibley Memorial Hospital’s mission to deliver excellent and compassionate care every patient, every time. Within job function leverage the Lean methodology and be a role model in innovation.     

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Troubleshoots, maintains, inspects, modifies and repairs heating, ventilation systems, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment including DX and hydronic systems and components, screw, reciprocating and absorption chillers, cooling towers, fans and fan motors, pumps and pump motors, electric controls and associated safety, over current and other equipment protection devices. 
  • Create control algorithms, download source code to controllers manage system databases and implement an animated front end graphical user interface. 
  • Maintain Controls Database with up to date digitalized hardware manuals, notes, photos, schematics, and UL data. 
  • Maintain logs of temperature, humidity, pressure differentials of operating rooms and other critical spaces. 
  • Coordinate critical space testing and make any repairs or adjustments to pneumatic and electrical controls of HVAC equipment to maintain temperature, humidity and pressure differentials per regulatory requirements. 
  • Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to state and federal Code Requirements and reports back to supervisor. 
  • Assist in the writing of specifications for repairs and new construction. 
  • Daily adherence to hospital time and attendance policy 
  • Maintains appearance of office environment using Lean 5S principles. 
  • Conduct the necessary training and utilize the lean methodology as appropriate. 

 

 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

 

  • High school graduate or G.E.D.  Certificate preferred or equivalent combination of training and experience is necessary.  
  • Four years journeyman experience working as an HVAC Technician in commercial, industrial, or large facilities environment. 

 

Licensure: 

  • Ability to complete the following trainings as required: 
  • Lock out tag out 
  • Fall arrest 
  • Confined space 
  • SDS  
  • Asbestos and lead identification 
  • Ladder safety 
  • Emergency evacuation 
  • In-house OSHA and respirator training. 

 

Salary Range: Minimum 24.97/hour - Maximum 41.97/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
