We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Investment Banking Associate to join our dynamic Mergers & Acquisitions Investment Banking team based in Chicago, IL, offering an exceptional opportunity to contribute to high-profile transactions and drive growth within a leading financial institution.


Job Summary

As an Associate in our Mergers & Acquisition group, you will be a key player in our business strategy and execution. You will participate in the "full cycle" of transactional execution including preparing marketing pitches, reviewing and formulating complex financial analysis, preparing and presenting internal committee memoranda and client presentations. You will play a leadership role in implementing the execution function including working with Analysts and Associates, as well as assisting more Senior Bankers. You will develop a strong array of skills in the major areas of Investment Banking and will demonstrate the ability to become a Senior Officer who is capable of generating and executing their own transactions. Working with a broader M&A team of over 100 Analysts and Associates across North America, you will be provided opportunities to be involved real-time in transactions that may include frequent travel. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop content for strategic meetings with clients regarding M&A or other strategic transactions
  • Interact with Senior Bankers and client management teams on a daily basis to execute transactions and discuss strategic alternatives
  • Defining, guiding and reviewing detailed valuation analysis, including DCF, trading comparables, transaction comparables and LBO analyses
  • Defining, guiding and reviewing detailed combination and other financial analyses in the context of M&A transactions or pitch situations
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to Associates and Analysts
  • Participate in graduate recruiting  

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Prior work experience in an Investment Banking front office role preferred; receptivity to experience in Private Equity or Mergers & Acquisitions law
  • Ability to work in / relocate to Chicago, IL
  • A well-rounded academic background from a top tier educational institution
  • Strong financial modelling skills and an ability to learn quickly
  • Experience working on sell-side, buy-side, carve-out, spin-off / split-off, MOE, or other similar transaction types across public or private markets 
  • Understands transaction cycle and the steps in the process and is execution oriented
  • Impeccable communication details with the ability to effectively interact with senior professionals, clients and key stakeholders in other lines of business
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently
