Legal/Paralegal

We’re looking for a Paralegal who thrives on variety, loves to solve problems, and finds satisfaction in bringing clarity to complex situations. You’ll collaborate closely with our Assistant General Counsel and teams across the credit union, helping reduce risk, strengthen processes, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of important legal documentation. You’ll support everything from contract reviews and compliance research to member solutions, collections, and probate matters. No two days look exactly the same—and that’s part of what makes this work meaningful.

Pay will be determined in accordance with CoVantage Credit Union standard practices, reflecting the successful candidate’s skills and experience.

 

Job Duties

  • Conduct legal research and assist with drafting, reviewing, and organizing contracts, memos, and other legal documents.
  • Support litigation, disputes, collections, subpoenas, and regulatory filings by gathering information and maintaining organized case files.
  • Collaborate with departments across the credit union and with outside counsel to move legal projects forward efficiently.
  • Help improve legal processes, templates, and workflows to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Provide guidance to staff on legal and compliance requirements and support vendor contract management.
  • Assist with investigations, probate matters, and employment‑related documentation as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal studies or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred. Additional certifications (e.g., NALA Certified Paralegal, NFPA Registered Paralegal) are a plus
  • A minimum of 2 years’ relevant paralegal experience in a law firm, financial institution, or corporate legal department preferred
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements for financial institutions, contracts, collections, consumer protection, employment and privacy laws
  • Experience drafting, negotiating, and interpreting contracts.
  • Experience conducting legal research and managing legal files
  • Ability to think independently and as part of a team
  • Above average accuracy and attention to details
