Position Summary

Provides security services to ensure a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors.

 

Essential Functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Perform proactive monitoring and respond promptly to potential or actual security threats 
  • Investigate and manage all security incidents and hazards on hospital premises 
  • Maintain knowledge of and adhere to policies regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness 
  • Facilitate drills and simulations for emergency preparedness 
  • Provide assistance and information to staff and visitors to promote safety 

 

Non-Essential Functions

  • Serve both internal staff and external customers, clients, and contractors 
  • Handle sensitive and/or confidential information 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • None 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
  • Associate’s degree or higher in any discipline preferred 

Experience

  • Service in active-duty military, reserves, National Guard, or auxiliary police/cadet programs preferred 
  • Minimum of one (1) year of verifiable and successful security experience required 
  • Healthcare security experience preferred 
  • At least six (6) months of customer interaction experience preferred 

Licenses

  • Current, valid driver’s license with a clean driving record 

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision 
  • Ability to remain calm and take appropriate action in stressful situations 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills 
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English

  • Work is performed in a well-lit, climate-controlled hospital and office setting  
  • Exposure to hospital-related risks such as bloodborne pathogens, contagious illnesses, chemicals, and biohazard materials 
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required 
  • Noise levels are typical of office and hospital environments
