We are currently looking for a Delivery Driver With Technician Duties to join us in our Kinston store.

 

PURPOSE

 

Prepares equipment for delivery to the customer for the purpose of demonstration, rental or sale, and instructs customer on basic operating procedures. May require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager or senior technicians. The primary focus of this position will be a delivery driver and will also be asked to complete service technician assignments when time allows during the business day.

 

BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivery Driver

Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required in the pickup and delivery process

Follows safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments

Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments

Transports equipment to/from customers and/or between dealer facilities

Maintains records of pickup and deliveries, and obtains necessary signatures and receipts

Maintains all required certifications in-line with DOT

Maintains assigned trucks and related equipment in good condition

Ensures proper tie down and transport of equipment without damage

Assists customers in the safe and proper usage of equipment and recommended additional equipment and supplies to help them perform each task more efficiently

Ensures proper usage of company credit cards for fuel and maintenance and submits receipts on a weekly basis

Follows safety procedures for loading and unloading equipment

Washes and preps equipment for in-shop service work (when required) or return to customer

Assist in cleaning and washing company vehicles as necessary

Coordinate prep of envirocrates, pallets, planter stand, etc. for return to John Deere

Cell phone is for company usage only. Driver must adhere to motor vehicle safety rules.

 

Service Technician

Performs basic diagnostic and repairs on products sold by Quality Equipment. May assist other service technicians when needed. 

Prepares all forms (detail of work performed on repair orders) required in conjunction with job assignments

Reports any additional work required on equipment to the Service Manager, for proper and safe operation by the customer

Participates in all training programs as directed by the Service Manager

 

 

General Responsibilities

Accounts for all time and for all distance traveled in performing assigned duties

Always conducts self so as to be an ambassador of the dealership

Any other tasks as requested by supervisor

Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments

Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion

Reports any issues with shop tools, equipment or vehicles that are in a serviceable condition or are unsafe for use 

 

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or equivalent experience required

1+ year(s) experience as a pickup and delivery driver

Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment used in pickup and delivery process

Valid driver’s license required and must maintain a driving record that meets insurance carrier standards

Ability to operate a forklift, preferred

Must be effective at time management

Basic parts and machinery knowledge, preferred

Ability to work in a customer focused environment

Must be able to back truck/trailer combinations at acceptable levels

Have a basic understanding of OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Weight Requirements:    Lifting up to 50 lbs.

Mobility:                           Squatting, bending, climbing, lifting, reaching, twisting, standing and 

sitting for long durations.

Visual:                               Working with PC, smart devices, and close detailed work.

Driving:                             Daily – short and long distances.

Work Environment:         Exposure to extreme weather, fumes, airborne particles and moving 

mechanical parts.

Dexterity:                         Ability to grasp and manipulate tools and parts. 

Noise Levels:                    Medium to High
