Dining Room Host / Hospitality Team Member

Job Summary

The Dining Room Host is a key hospitality position focused on winning the hearts of our guests by maintaining a remarkable environment. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness in the dining room and restrooms, while proactively serving guests to anticipate their needs. The Dining Room Host reports to the Front of House Leadership team and plays a critical role in the guest's second mile service experience.

Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Hospitality:

  • Conduct periodic "table touches" to check on guests within 2 minutes of them receiving their food to ensure everything is tasting excellent.
  • Proactively offer "refreshes" (beverage refills) and clear trays/trash from tables as guests finish their meals.
  • Monitor table markers to ensure guests receive their food promptly and accurately.
  • Assist guests at the end of the counter with refreshes, sauces, or other needs whenever possible.
  • Identify guest issues and attempt to resolve them immediately; escalate to a Manager on Duty if a solution cannot be reached.

Operational Cleanliness:

  • Maintain the dining room area by wiping down tables and chairs immediately after guests leave.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms periodically throughout the day with a high sense of urgency, recognizing their importance to the guest experience.
  • Ensure the condiment station remains fully stocked and organized at all times.
  • Monitor floor cleanliness and empty trash compactors as needed to maintain a clutter-free environment.
  • Sanitize and dry trays and table markers; ensure liners are replaced before returning them to the bagging station.

Closing Procedures (Prior to 9:00 PM):

  • Ensure all trays are cleaned and sanitized.
  • Fully restock the condiment bar to set the morning shift up for success.
  • Perform a deep clean of both the women’s and men’s restrooms following standard protocols.
  • Check the playground area for trash and ensure it is tidy before the end of the shift.
  • Place chairs on tables only at the designated closing time (9:00 PM), ensuring a welcoming environment until the very end of service.

Success Metrics

We know that the Dining Room Host is successfully meeting and exceeding role expectations when the following items are met:

  • Cleanliness Standards: Restrooms and the dining room consistently meet "Hospitality Excellence" standards upon inspection.
  • Table Touch Consistency: 100% of guests are checked on within the 2-minute standard.
  • Operational Readiness: The condiment bar and tray stations are fully stocked and ready for the next day-part.
  • Guest Feedback: Positive guest mentions regarding dining room cleanliness and proactive service.
