Job Description

The Director of Finance - Operations, acts as a key business partner to the BU Senior Leadership Team and plant leadership to provide strategic insights to drive cost efficiency, optimize capital investments, and align financial goals with operational strategy.

 

How You’ll Perform the Role:

  • Strategic financial leadership: Partner with operations leaders to develop and implement financial strategies that support business goals, identify cost-saving opportunities, and drive overall performance.
  • Team leadership: Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Financial planning and analysis (FP&A): Provide margin analysis at customer and product levels that deliver insight and drives action.  Lead efforts to drive accuracy of margin analysis.  Support productivity efforts via collaboration with operations and strong engagement with the CapEx process including developing justification for investments and providing post investment return analysis.  Lead efforts to assess business performance related to changes in selling prices relative to changes in raw material inputs. Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and month end analysis (i.e. EBITDA Bridges and variance analyses) for the operating unit. 
  • Performance reporting and insights: Prepare and present reports such as key performance indicators (KPIs) and other operational metrics that provide insight to all levels of leadership.  Identify and highlight performance trends and variances so that actions can be taken to address.
  • Process improvement, systems, and communication: Champion continuous improvement by enhancing financial processes, implementing best practices, and leveraging technology.  Communicate results and educate team members by presenting financial information in a manner that is clear and understood by both finance and non-finance professionals.
  • Help lead Novolex digital transformation activities by expanding the use of tools such as Power BI, OneStream, Hyperion, and AX Dynamics.
  • Collaborate with IT to improve data integrity.

What We Need from You:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field with at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, including coaching and developing talent.
  • Strength in operational finance with effective collaboration and communication that drives insight, action and results.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex data into actionable insights.
  • Communication and presentation skills with experience influencing stakeholders across the organization.
  • Decisiveness and decision-making skills that anticipate the needs of the stakeholders.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel), Power BI, SAP, PRMS, Microsoft AX Dynamics, HFM/Essbase, OneStream with demonstrated ability to learn new systems.
  • High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $150,000 - $200,000 + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
