 Job Description:

Position Summary

The Electrical Maintenance Planner is responsible for driving electrical reliability and maximizing equipment uptime across the facility. This role leads the planning, coordination, and readiness of daily electrical maintenance activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with applicable standards.

Serving as the primary owner of electrical asset data within the CMMS, this position ensures the accuracy and completeness of equipment records, bills of material, and preventive maintenance programs. By developing detailed job plans, maintaining a well-prioritized backlog, and coordinating closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams, the Electrical Maintenance Planner plays a critical role in supporting consistent and reliable plant performance. While this role may provide occasional support to capital or project initiatives, its primary focus is the effective planning and execution of routine and corrective electrical maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and continuously improve electrical asset data within the CMMS, including equipment hierarchies, bills of material (BOMs), and preventive maintenance (PM) task lists
  • Plan and schedule electrical maintenance work for motors, drives, PLCs, switchgear, MCCs, lighting systems, and control components
  • Develop comprehensive job plans that include labor estimates, required materials, tooling, and safety requirements
  • Coordinate procurement activities, including vendor quotes and purchase requests, to ensure material availability prior to scheduled work
  • Track material status and oversee staging and kitting of parts for planned maintenance activities
  • Manage and prioritize the electrical maintenance backlog by system, urgency, and resource requirements
  • Participate in weekly planning, scheduling, and outage coordination meetings with operations and maintenance leadership
  • Review completed work orders to ensure accuracy, proper documentation, and actionable feedback within the CMMS
  • Generate and analyze reports related to backlog health, PM compliance, and labor utilization
  • Partner with reliability and engineering teams to identify failure trends and support continuous improvement efforts
  • Collaborate with storeroom personnel to maintain appropriate inventory levels of critical electrical spare parts
  • Recommend stocking strategies for frequently used or high-risk components
  • Ensure all job plans incorporate appropriate safety procedures, permits, and lockout/tagout requirements
  • Support and reinforce plant safety initiatives, including compliance with NFPA 70E and internal safety standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including low- and medium-voltage distribution, controls, PLCs, and instrumentation
  • Experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or reliability within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Proficiency with CMMS platforms (SAP preferred)
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies
  • Experience with planning or scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project is a plus
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across functions in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated team orientation and commitment to a positive, accountable work culture
