About the Role

Wills Eye Hospital is seeking a Grant Accountant to join our growing Sponsored Projects team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field who is interested in building a career in grant accounting, research finance, and nonprofit healthcare.

In this role, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the financial operations of federally and privately funded medical research projects, while working closely with experienced professionals in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with post-award grant administration, including fund setup, reconciliations, and expenditure monitoring
  • Support Principal Investigators and Sponsored Projects leadership with financial and administrative tasks
  • Review grant award documents, budgets, and justifications for accuracy and compliance
  • Process research-related financial transactions such as purchase requests, vendor invoices, travel expenses, and reimbursements
  • Help ensure compliance with federal and state grant regulations, including effort reporting
  • Assist with audit preparation, financial reporting, and data analysis (including SEFA reporting)
  • Collaborate with internal departments, research staff, and external partners
