to Brooklyn.
Following
the success of Jean-Georges’ abc restaurants in the Flatiron District,
Vongerichten will open abc kitchens, his first-ever Brooklyn restaurant on the
iconic Dumbo waterfront at Empire Stores. abc kitchens’ seasonally driven menu
is an evolution and combination of abc cocina’s global flavors, abcV’s
innovative plant-based dishes and abc kitchen’s approach to Greenmarket fare,
under one roof.

POSITION SUMMARY
The
host will greet guests upon arrival, inform guests of wait times, monitor the
waiting list, enter guest names into the computer system, show guests to their
table and bid farewell as they leave. The Host will create a warm and welcoming
environment by presenting a positive first impression.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome
guests by greeting them per the company standards and respond to customer
queries by resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner to ensure
customer satisfaction
- Escort
guests to seats and set them up for a pleasurable dining experience based
on the appropriate floor plan
- Deliver a
fantastic food and beverage dining experience to all guests
- Promote and
maintain the highest level of customer service to all guests while staying
alert to their needs
- Provide
guests with food and beverage menus while demonstrating expert knowledge
of all menu items, as well as daily specials
- Receive and
record dining reservations or respond to general inquiries via telephone
or online reservation system
- Confer with
dining room staff to ensure guests are receiving prompt and courteous
service
- Maintain
dining ambiance with an enthusiastic and graceful attitude
- Actively
participate during lineup
- Ensure
consistent communication with staff members, management, and the kitchen
during service
- Demonstrate
ability to aid co-workers during service while
successfully maintaining responsibilities
- Maintain a
welcoming and orderly restaurant environment
- Demonstrate
knowledge of Department of Health (DOH) standards
- Ensure
compliance with occupational, health, and safety standards
- Maintain
impeccable standards of cleanliness and appearance throughout all areas of
the restaurant both before, during, and after service
- Complete all
assigned side work as assigned by management
- Follow all
company policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Consistently
report to scheduled shifts on time and ready to work in proper
uniform
- Operate
ethically to protect the assets and image of the company
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Restaurant
experience, especially in high-volume settings, is desirable.
- Previous
related experience preferred.
- Dedication
to delivering exceptional hospitality and guest satisfaction.
- Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills.
- Well-organized
and precise attention to detail.
- Ability to
operate point-of-sale systems.
- Capable of
following directions and executing tasks effectively.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability
to perform essential job functions safely and successfully consistent with
the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including
meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability
to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and
other federal, state, and local standards.
- Must
be able to lift, balance and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to
stand for prolonged periods of time and climb steps regularly.
- Ability to
physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend
arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a
constantly changing environment.
COMPENSATION
The
base pay range for this position is $17.00/hour. The determination of what a specific employee in this job
classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors,
including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge,
qualifications, and skills, etc.
