Description

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· As a member of the Marketing Team, leads community outreach initiatives and plans events, product demonstrations, tastings, and educational classes (held in the Community Room or off-site) with the goal of attracting new customers, engaging Owners, and increasing sales at The Common Market.

· Develops and maintains relationships with community organizations to expand and diversify the shopper base at both store locations.

· Oversees the coordination of special events including leading special events and marketing meetings as needed, participates in department, all-store, and other meetings as needed.

· Oversees the development and evaluation of Community Room classes and instructors, including soliciting and reviewing proposals for new classes. Maintains and updates guidelines for Community Room use, schedule, and assures cleanliness of spaces.

· Generates new ideas for outreach, education, and events, ensuring programs remain fresh, sustainable, and aligned with the Co-op’s mission and values.

· Builds and maintains positive relationships with guests, instructors, vendors, and community partners.

· Establishes systems and documentation to ensure consistency and relevance in outreach, events and educational programs.

· Maintains website event page for classes and events.

· Regularly reviews general ledger (GL) accounts monthly to ensure programs and events remain within budget and expenses are properly recorded.

· Attends outreach, events, and educational classes as needed.

· Writes Spoonful newsletter articles, press releases, blog/website content, and social media posts related to Common Market Outreach, Events & Education in order to promote to Owners and the general public.

· Oversees Bring A Bag program and promotion.

· Assists customers as needed.

· Maintains a positive, professional, and friendly attitude.

· Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES

  • Degree in marketing or related field, or equivalent experience.    
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in public relations, customer relations, event planning, and/or education.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience and familiarity with natural foods strongly preferred.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Word and Excel. 

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Reliable access to transportation, and able to travel to both store locations, offsite meetings and events. 
  • Flexibility to work any shift, including mornings, middays, evenings, weekends.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures (approximately 20°F – 90°F). 
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods at a time. 
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, kneel, twist, and climb.
  • Ability to push or pull with maintained control up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Available for in person work, on a consistent and timely basis, with infrequent unplanned absences.


Salary Description
$18.50-$24/hr
