Position Overview:

As a Security Officer, you are the cornerstone of safety and security across our entire resort, operating continuously 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You'll be responsible for actively monitoring and safeguarding guests, employees, and all resort properties. Your shifts will involve patrolling various areas and buildings according to a comprehensive checklist, ensuring constant vigilance.

Effective communication is paramount in this role. You'll maintain continuous contact with all resort departments via phone and radio, ensuring seamless coordination and rapid response to any situation. You'll be the first point of contact in emergencies, trained to skillfully execute Grand View Lodge's emergency procedures and assist as needed.

Teamwork is at the heart of our success. Security Officers often collaborate with other departments, especially overnight, to provide support and assistance. This role demands strong communication, organizational skills, leadership potential, physical stamina, and a genuine desire to assist guests.

This role is a key associate, responsible for ensuring the organization’s prosperity from the perspective of financial acumen and business development. With exposure to all aspects of the business, the role will grow concurrently with the company. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct regular patrols of all resort areas and buildings, meticulously following established checklists to ensure thorough coverage and identify potential security risks.
  • Maintain continuous and clear communication with all resort departments, including Front Desk, Maintenance, and Guest Services, using radios and phones to coordinate responses and share critical information.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to all security and emergency calls, demonstrating sound judgment and adherence to established protocols.
  • Implement Grand View Lodge's emergency procedures, assisting with situations such as medical emergencies, fires, natural disasters, or disturbances, and ensuring proper authorities are notified.
  • Secure all resort buildings and facilities that close overnight, performing locking procedures and verifying integrity.
  • Provide assistance to the Front Desk with guest needs, including room deliveries and transportation requests, especially during overnight shifts.
  • Skillfully de-escalate and resolve situations involving unruly or disruptive guests, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Contact law enforcement or fire department personnel when necessary, providing clear and concise information.
  • Complete detailed and accurate incident and accident reports, documenting all relevant information and actions taken.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to ensure maximum efficiency, especially during high-stress situations.
  • Demonstrate strong judgment and decision-making skills under pressure.
  • Other duties may be assigned by Safety & Security Manager and Resort Leadership.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record for a minimum of one year to meet company insurance requirements; occasional use of company vehicles may be required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (4-5 hours at a time), climb stairs, reach, and bend.
  • Ability to occasionally lift over 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings, often in varying weather conditions.
  • Capable of extended periods of standing, walking, and walking while carrying objects weighing 0-30 pounds, with short periods of carrying 25 pounds or more.

Education & Experience:

  • At least 18 years of age and a driver’s license—use of company vehicle is required.
  • While previous security experience is preferred, it's not strictly required. We welcome candidates with a strong work ethic and a commitment to learning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effective interaction with guests, employees, and emergency services, as well as for accurate report writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and critical thinking to quickly assess situations, make sound decisions, and resolve conflicts calmly and effectively.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification is a significant asset. If not currently certified, a willingness to obtain certification is expected.
  • A genuine desire to assist guests and provide exceptional service, even in challenging situations, is crucial for success in our resort environment.
