Role Responsibilities
The Production Planner is responsible for more than traditional ERP planning and MRP execution. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams across Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, and Sales to ensure integrated production plans, scenario modeling, and strategic planning initiatives. The position focuses on proactive problem-solving, continuous improvement, and enabling end-to-end visibility of the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
• New Product/Engineering Change Support: Integrate NPIs into production schedules, ensuring readiness for launch.
• Supplier Engagement: Support sourcing strategies for critical components to reduce risk and manage allocations.
• Scenario & Contingency Planning: Conduct what-if analyses for demand surges, supply disruptions, and major downtime events.
• Planning Metrics & Reporting: Track KPIs such as On Time, Schedule Adherence, and Inventory Turns.
• Participation in S&OP: Provide input into monthly Sales & Operations Planning.
• Digital Transformation: Support automation initiatives, advanced planning tools, and analytics projects.
Key Qualifications
Degree or work experience in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field. Experience in manufacturing planning or production scheduling. Ability to use an ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics NAV). Familiarity with MRP/MPS processes and capacity planning. Ability to speak effectively with employees of an organization.
Comfortable working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook). Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities. Analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with S&OP processes
- Exposure to Lean or Six Sigma methodologies
- Knowledge of APS systems and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)
- Intentional self-starter who takes initiative and proactively seeks out value-add opportunities
Education
Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Regular communication and frequent use of hands; occasional standing, reaching, and lifting
- Exposure to manufacturing conditions, including moving equipment and elevated noise levels
