About Castelion
Castelion is bringing a new approach to defense development and production: one that focuses on short, iterative design cycles, rapid testing in development, and modern commercial manufacturing strategies for production at scale. We design, build, and test next generation weapon systems to give America and its Allies a definitive edge in defense capabilities.
Production Scheduler
A Production Scheduler at Castelion plays a key role in driving manufacturing efficiency by building and managing rate-driven schedules, forecasting material and capacity needs, and monitoring constraints across multiple builds. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to plan, prioritize, and deliver daily and weekly production goals in support of long-term rate commitments.
Responsibilities
- Support production scheduling for an assigned work center by determining part need dates, highlighting shortages, and forecasting long-range capacity and rate requirements. Develop and maintain rate-based schedules and identify constraints across at least six upcoming missions.
- Leverage established schedules to model multiple production scenarios and align stakeholders on optimal hardware allocation, balancing new versus refurbished hardware while accounting for customer requirements, mission demand, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to define, monitor, and execute daily and weekly production objectives, factoring in workforce and equipment limitations while maintaining overall throughput targets.
- Establish strong working relationships with internal suppliers and create reliable communication channels for forecasting hardware demand and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate and prioritize hardware flow through shared resources used by multiple departments, actively negotiating priorities and partnering with peers to achieve the best overall business outcomes.
- Identify, develop, and deploy automation opportunities within scheduling, manufacturing, and supply chain processes to reduce manual effort and improve schedule accuracy.
- Reduce near- and long-term schedule risk by performing capacity analysis, identifying gaps in planning models or communication, and leading initiatives to prevent or mitigate schedule delays.
- Lead root-cause investigations and drive permanent corrective actions for build issues that impact delivery, including resolving assembly and integration alignment challenges.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, quality, safety, cost reduction, and overall team efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors degree with 1+ year of experience in manufacturing scheduling, planning, or operations; or 3+ years of relevant professional experience in these areas.
- Hands-on experience using ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with an emphasis on speed and precision.
- Highly self-directed, adaptable, and capable of prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Proficiency with technical tools and applications such as MS Office, VBA, Smartsheet, SQL, Confluence, JIRA, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated success driving continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or related methodologies.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams on complex or strategic initiatives.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
Leadership Qualities
- Bias to Action and Creative Problem Solving. Desire and experience questioning assumptions in ways that lead to break through ideas that are ultimately implemented. Successfully bring in applicable processes/concepts/materials from other industries to achieve efficiency gains. Ability to personally resolve minor issues in development without requiring significant support.
- High Commitment, High Initiative. A successful candidate will have a genuine passion for Castelion's mission and consistently look for ways to contribute to the company's technical goals and prevent hardware blockers. Ability to work in a fast paced, autonomously driven, and demanding atmosphere. Strong sense of accountability and integrity.
- Clear Communicator. Proactively communicates blockers. Trusted in previous roles to be voice of company with regulators, suppliers, gate keepers and customers. Capable of tactfully managing relationships with stakeholders to achieve company-desired outcomes without compromising relationships.
