Hammer Made is seeking an experienced, analytical, and commercially driven Retail Business Analyst to play a critical role in shaping merchandising strategy, inventory productivity, and seasonal execution.
This role goes beyond reporting. The Retail Business Analyst will drive data-informed decision-making across Product Design, Buying, Marketing, and Retail Operations. The ideal candidate will combine strong financial acumen with a deep understanding of retail dynamics, ensuring that product development, inventory investment, and go-to-market execution are aligned to maximize sales and margin performance.
This individual will own and manage the Product Development Calendar and Go-To-Market (GTM) Calendar, ensuring disciplined seasonal planning and successful product launches.
Essential Job Duties
1. Business & Performance Analysis
- Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly sales, margin, and inventory performance.
- Monitor KPIs including sales growth, gross margin %, sell-through rate, inventory turnover, markdown %, GMROI, and stock aging.
- Identify risks and opportunities and present actionable recommendations to leadership.
- Build dashboards and reporting tools to improve business visibility.
2. Inventory Planning & Open-to-Buy (OTB) Management
- Support and manage Open-to-Buy (OTB) planning aligned with seasonal financial goals.
- Forecast demand using historical data, trend analysis, and market insights.
- Optimize assortment depth, sizing curves, and allocation strategies.
- Recommend replenishment and markdown strategies to maximize margin.
3. Product Development Calendar Leadership
- Build and maintain a structured Product Development Calendar aligned with seasonal retail cycles.
- Establish milestones for design, costing, sampling, production, and delivery.
- Ensure cross-functional alignment and on-time seasonal launches.
4. Go-To-Market (GTM) Planning & Execution
- Develop and manage a comprehensive GTM Calendar across retail and e-commerce.
- Align product launches with marketing campaigns and floor sets.
- Conduct post-launch analysis and refine future GTM strategies.
5. Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate with Product Design, Buying, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Retail Leadership.
- Translate data into insights that influence strategic decisions.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in retail business analysis, merchandise planning, buying, or product development (men’s fashion preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Merchandising, Data Analytics, or related field.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with SQL.
- Experience with ERP or retail planning systems preferred.
- Strong understanding of OTB planning, inventory management, margin optimization, and seasonal retail cycles.

Travel Requirements
Occasional domestic and international travel may be required to support strategic vendor partnerships, sourcing initiatives, product development alignment, market research, and brand growth opportunities. Travel may include collaboration with overseas mills and manufacturing partners to ensure product quality, timeline adherence, and commercial objectives are achieved.
