Family & Child Empowerment Services (FACES) SF provides families who live and work in San Francisco with high-quality early childhood education and enrichment; job support, training, and placement; and comprehensive family support services and referrals. Position Summary

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency in all accounting functions. This position is responsible for generating essential financial documents, such as reports, budgets, and projections, and partnering with the Chief Finance & Compliance Officer to manage the organization's financial activities. Additionally, the Finance Manager manages the finance team and is charged with developing and implementing robust financial policies and procedures across the organization. Finance team members work a hybrid schedule with a default expectation of three days in the office each week.


What You’ll Do

Financial Management & Compliance

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations - Working closely with the PeopleOps team to ensure that all payment structures and changes are implemented with fidelity and in accordance with relevant regulations. 

  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records in accordance with GAAP and FACES accounting standards

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes

  • Working closely with the contracts and compliance team, track and manage funding from local and state grants, ensuring proper allocation across all programs.

  • Prepare and submit financial reports to funders in compliance with grant agreements

  • Create, update, and train budget holders and other stakeholders on high-quality internal policies, manuals, and processes to ensure clear and efficient communication pertaining to financial management 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for financial stakeholders, such as banks, investors, auditors, and government officials.

  • Work closely with the CFCO to develop and monitor program budgets

  • Identify and execute enhancements to financial procedures and technological systems, optimizing efficiency and accuracy.

  • Partner with the CFCO to provide financial analysis and insights to support program decision-making

  • Ensure proper cost allocation methodologies across all program

Audit & Compliance

  • Coordinate annual financial audit, IRS compliance, and preparation of schedules in coordination with the CFCO and auditing firm

  • Work with the CFCO to ensure internal controls are in place and functioning effectively

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations

  • Assure adherence to all legal standards and regulations governing financial activities. 

  • Guarantee compliance with financial laws and regulations and ensure adherence to internal policies

Qualifications

You have a solid mix of the following knowledge, ability, skills and experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

  • 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment

  • Experience with grant accounting, especially government (local/state) funding

  • Experience supporting early childhood education or similar programs is a plus

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).

  • Experience with Sage Intacct (strongly preferred).

  • Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now and Emburse Certify for expense reporting is a plus.

  • Ability to meet and maintain required state, federal, local, and CDC standards (including but not limited to fingerprint clearance, negative TB test, First Aid, and CPR).

  • This role offers a hybrid schedule with the ability to work remotely and be onsite at our San Francisco office.

What We Offer

  • Annual salary between $95k - $110k based on experience.
